How to Add Yarn Links for Indie Dyers and Yarn Stores

As you manage or edit your patterns, you can include links to yarn and yarn kits for them.  That way customers can see, access, and buy everything they need in one place. Linking your yarn to your patterns creates a complete shopping experience.

What This Doc Covers

This guide is for yarn shops, indie dyers, and designers who want to manage their pattern products alongside their yarn products on multiple selling channels (Shopify, Ravelry, GoSadi, etc.) and show customers where to get both.

If you’re new to GoSadi (or landed here by accident), check out these other resources to learn more about us!

Getting Started Using GoSadi

Import Your Products

Start by importing your entire pattern and yarn library into GoSadi.

1. Go to Product Library

2. Click Import Products

3. Select all patterns and yarn products you want to import from your connected selling channels

4. GoSadi imports your full library

Merge Patterns with Yarn Products

Once imported, you can merge your pattern with the corresponding yarn product.

1. In Product Library, select the pattern you want to merge

2. Click the checkbox next to the pattern

3. Click Merge These Products

Resolve Conflicts

GoSadi shows you any conflicts between the two products. Common conflicts include:

  • Product titles

  • Publish dates

  • Descriptions

For each conflict:

1. Review the conflicting information and select the version you prefer

2. Select the yarn product for the pattern

3. Move to the next conflict

NOTE: GoSadi only shows conflicts, not all information. You'll see only items that need your attention.

Clean Up Photos

When merging, you may have duplicate photos from different selling channels.

1. Go to Photo Gallery

2. Review all imported photos

3. Keep the highest resolution versions (see Best Practice)

4. Remove duplicates

BEST PRACTICE: Etsy photos have the highest resolution. Keep those and remove lower-resolution versions from other channels.

Ensure You Have One Master File

When merging, consolidate to one pattern file across all selling channels.

1. Go to File Library

2. Check that you have one master PDF file

3. If you have duplicates, remove them

4. Make sure this file is attached to all selling channels

NOTE: GoSadi doesn't import files from Shopify. If your file didn't import, you'll need to upload it manually here.

Set Up Selling Channels

Now set up each selling channel to link yarn and pattern together.

GoSadi Page

1. Go to Selling Channels → GoSadi tab

2. In the pattern description, add a link to your yarn product

  • Copy the link to your yarn

  • Paste it into the description or appropriate field

3. Add your pattern photos back if they were removed during import

4. No file is necessary for GoSadi (it's pattern information only)

Ravelry

1. Go to Selling Channels → Ravelry

2. Add your pattern photos back (if they were removed during merge cleanup)

3. In the Pattern Page Link field, add the link to the yarn

4. Add the PDF file if missing (optional)

Shopify

1. Go to Selling Channels → Shopify

2. Add your photos back if they didn't carry over

3. Add your master PDF file (Shopify doesn't auto-import files)

Other Channels

Repeat the same process for any other selling channels you use.

Finalize the Merge

1. Review all selling channel details

2. Make sure all photos are in place

3. Confirm your master file is attached where required

4. Click Merge Actions at the top

5. Confirm the merge

GoSadi processes the merge and syncs across all your selling channels (if you choose that option). You'll see a confirmation popup when complete.

Set Up Your Company Landing Page

Use your Company Landing Page to guide customers to get the yarn along with the pattern.

1. Go to Company Landing Page → Profile

2. Look for the logo section

3. Create a custom graphic or button that says "Get the Yarn" or similar

4. Replace the default logo with your "Get the Yarn" graphic

5. Publish your changes

Now when customers visit your product page, they see a "Get the Yarn" link that takes them directly to your yarn product.

Share Your Merged Product

Once merged, you have one product page linking both pattern and yarn.

1. Go to Product Library

2. Find your merged product

3. Copy the product link

4. Share in newsletters, social media, or with customers

When customers visit the link, they see:

  • Pattern details and description

  • Link to get the yarn

  • All selling channel options (Shopify, Ravelry, GoSadi, etc.)

  • Everything they need to make the project

Manage Both Products as One

After merging, you manage the pattern and yarn product as a single item in GoSadi.

1 Any updates to the pattern details apply to both

2. Any photo updates appear across all channels once synced

3. Pricing and selling channel details stay separate per channel (you can price differently on Shopify vs. Ravelry if desired)

4. Customers see the complete package: pattern + yarn together
