Create a Pattern Listing from a PDF file
You’ve worked hard developing your pattern. You’ve documented all the details - hook or needle type, yarn weights and amounts, gauges, sizes, description, skill level, all the details - into a PDF that you have reviewed and had tech edited and are ready to create a listing you’ll share with your customers. GoSadi is making the days of typing up those details multiple times - each time adding the same information for Selling Channel #1, then again for Selling Channel #2, and so on - disappear!
Put your pattern in PDF form as usual, then in a simple upload to GoSadi, those details appear in your pattern. The days of re-typing on repeat are over!
Create a Pattern Listing from a PDF File
Creating a pattern listing on GoSadi from your pattern’s PDF is as easy as a few clicks, but only if your PDF contains these important elements.
GoSadi’s Best Practices for Better PDF Reader Results
Font choice matters. Use consistent and clear fonts throughout your document.
In fact, a best-practice is to use web-friendly fonts, so that the GoSadi PDF Reader can read your document quickly and accurately. At the top of the pattern, talk about unique design elements and techniques that differentiate your pattern.
Adding these points at the top of your pattern creates a better listing and provides good information for your makers and customers.Add a Footer Paragraph.
Consider adding a footer paragraph on your pattern intro or cover page calling out some of the design elements and attributes. This will always help the AI correctly identify your pattern attributes.Clearly identify the suggested skill level in the pattern.
If you need help with skill levels, GoSadi has published a guide to skill levels on our support site and on our blog!Clearly identify the yarn used for the pattern. What does this mean?
State the title of the yarn EXACTLY how the yarn company titles it on their labeling. Do not add the yarn size to the title of the yarn in your PDF if it doesn’t appear in the title the yarn company publishes.
Example: Below are two yarns from the website knitpicks.com.Identify sizing and gauge in your PDF, so GoSadi’s PDF Reader can populate those areas within the pattern’s Nitty Gritty tab.
If your pattern uses their “Andes” yarn, you will list the yarn name exactly as it’s written “Wool of the Andes Worsted”. In the yarn weight section of your PDF, you will put “Worsted”.
On the other hand, if your pattern uses the “Dishie” yarn, you’ll list “Dishie” as the yarn title and “Worsted” in yarn weight.
Do not use “Dishie Worsted” or “Dishie Worsted Weight Yarn”, since “Dishie” is the official title. GoSadi’s PDF Reader will have trouble understanding the title otherwise.
This is important, too, so that the pattern is associated with the correct yarn on Selling Channels.
